WILDCARDS 26th Aug 2004

Having
seen the Ian Parker band for the first time at the Club,
I am writing to ask if he will be appearing there
again in the near future?
After
the first number, I had to concede what a fine guitarist
this guy is - Clapton wannabe's should see Ian's performance
to appreciate how far they really have to reach to achieve
such a professional level. His voice increased
in quality and grit throughout his performance and was
well worth the price of admission.
The
enjoyment of the quality bands at this club will be
acknowledged by all that come to listen.
The
Heaters give a solid foundation to the evening with
fine renditions of some of my old favourites by such
artists as John Mayall, Buddy Guy, Peter Green, etc..
A pleasure to listen to..

Fielder – 5th Oct 2003)

This
was my first time at the club and I cant think it could
get much better than this.
Dr. JJ gave a highly entertaining performance backed
by a truly magnificent band.
Each member of this band is at the top of their trade.
You even get an amazing Bass
solo from the big young guy.
I am already looking forward to their next performance
here and I will bring friends along.
Keep up the good work JJ you're band is FABULOUS

The
New Crawdaddy Club’s move back to the Belvedere in Hardings
Elms Road, Crays Hill, Billericay has gone very smoothly
and the Club has attracted good crowds at the gigs so
far. With a very strong August programme, let’s make
sure that this continues and the New Crawdaddy quickly
becomes re-established in its new, or should that be
old, home!
One
thing’s for sure, the sound is great!!
(Ashwyn
Smyth - Digital Blues Newsletter - Aug 2003)

Thanks
for a great evening - what a player Ian is, and back
to good crowds for you.
(Alan
Harvey)

Hi
chaps,
After
last night’s great performances by both yourselves and
Ian Parker, I just had to email to congratulate all
concerned. It was my first visit since the move from
Crondon, due to vacation, and I must say that yourselves
(Heaters) played a fantastic set. Seeing you play most
weeks tends to make people not pay too much attention
but last night you held the crowd’s full, and glad to
say, very appreciative attention.
Ian Parker, can that man pluck them strings, I thought
Mike Pini was good but this man was superb.
Best regards Den.
(From
Dennis Price – 1/8/03)

Pete
here from HAIR OF THE DOG. I'd just like to thanks on
behalf of the band for putting us in your excellent
pic section!!!
(Peter
Gale - Hair of the Dog)

MIKE
PINI. what a great night, you must try to get him back,
lets hope the
Barcodes are as good next Thursday.
Best
regards Den.
(Dennis
Price)

Dear
everybody at the New Crawdaddy,
For
myself & the band I'd like to say (again) thanks
so much for the great night we had playing for the good
people of Essex!
I hope we can do it again soon.
Good
Blues To You

Dear
Paul,
Thanks
for the other night. we all enjoyed playing at your
new venue enormously. Lots of good luck for the future.
(Mike Chase - Grapevine Blues Band)

Dear
Paul,
......
hearing the visiting musicians praise you and the club
shows that, within two years, it has become an essential
part of the British Blues scene.
I
look forward to my regular fix of great blues at The
New Crawdaddy Club.
Thank
you and with best regards,
(Mike Scully)

Paul,
Just
thought I would say thanks for Thursday night. My girlfriend
and I really enjoyed the music ( Big Joe Turner )
(Mike Swash)

Paul,
Just
a short note to say how much I enjoyed last night (
Joe Turner ) Although I am not local, I live near Cleethorpes,
Lincs, my work brings me this way. I was here for four
months last year and , in fact, one of the last gigs
I saw before returning home was Joe Turner on his last
visit. I an back again for another four months and my
highlight of the week, before returning home at weekends,
is my Thursday blues night ( please do not move to Fridays
!! )
All
the very best to you and your team at your new venue,
I will be there.
(Dave Allen)

Hi
Paul,
I've
just returned home after seeing ' Big Joe Turner '.
This was an absolutely brilliant evening and I feel
that a big thank you to everybody behind the scenes
at The New Crawdaddy Club is long over due. You've all
done a fantastic job. I've only been attending for the
last eight months, but it's great to be able to see
some first class bands playing locally, in a friendly
atmosphere.
I
think your decision to move is the correct one. Crondon
Park looks to be a first class venue and I feel that
a lot of blues clubs, up and down the country, will
be green with envy.If you could organise a summer blues
festival this would definitely put the place on the
map. Crondon Park is a lot more central than your previous
venue, and I feel that this will be to the advantage
of the club and will help to increase the numbers
attending.
Good
luck with the club. I hope that everything works out.
I'm definitely going to mark every Thursday in my diary
as a ' Blues day ' !
(Howard Boon)

Dear
Paul,
I
must say how much I enjoyed last night's gig. ( Guy
Tortora & Band ) Excellent. He's a wonderful artist,
delicate at times, powerful at others, but always real
quality. Played the CD in the car on the way home and
enjoyed that also.....
(Alan Harvey)

From Temperton Bones website......
Firstly
an extra special mention for our forthcoming gig at
The New Crawdaddy Club, By all accounts this venue's
a cracker. Apparently it has a friendly atmosphere with
plenty of seats and tables for everyone, the stage,
sound and beers are all meant to be good. The club has
hosted gigs by some great blues artists and we are keen
to make a good impression because it's the first time
that we have played there.............
Needless to say, Temperton Bones went down exceptionally well and
have made another successful visit since.... Paul Dean
